Dear Visitor ji,
This is to express my gratitude to all the member associations and their delegates for electing me the president of FINACT for the year 2015-16.
I am honoured and humbled by your trust and confidence in me and am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with you in a number of areas and promote the objectives of FINACT which are, and not restricted to:
- Present a unified front for all its member associations and promote the advancement of people of Indian origin in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surroundings.
- To promote among the people resident in Australia and, in particular, the ACT an awareness about Indians being responsible Australian citizens and to cultivate a feeling of mutual respect through increased social & cultural interaction, sport and recreation.
To me, the uniqueness and power of FINACT comes from the diversity of its member associations, with their members working in many different linguistic and cultural environments, still sharing the same goal. What binds us all together is our commitment towards mutual respect, harmony and our passion see the progress and happiness in the country we come from (Janma Bhumi, India) and the country we live in (our Karma Bhumi, Australia).
To conclude I along with my committee assure all the constituents of FINACT about our commitment towards coordination, cooperation and collaboration.
Amardeep Singh President FINACT
President's Annual Report for FY 2014-15
It is a great pleasure for me to submit the annual report for the year 2014-15 when FINACT has made several initiatives, organized events and supported communities. FINACT organized Indian Independence Day in association with IAAC and all Indian communities. This reflects the Indian communities showcased on the Independence Day.
- The Community Harmony Day was another significant milestone to enable the community leaders to develop networks with key political leaders, Government officials, High Commission of India and many other community leaders.
- FINACT organized a dinner with Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Indian Parliamentary Delegation thereby creating an opportunity for the local community leaders to meet and greet the Indian delegates in an informal setting.
- FINACT initiated and organized ACT Mini (Multicultural) Cricket World Cup in partnership with Cricket ACT which was very well received by various multicultural societies in Canberra. The tournament will likely be an annual event growing bigger and better each year.
- It was a pleasure to see FINACT’s association with High Commission of India in organising the International Yoga Day at Old Parliament Lawns. FINACT has supported many initiatives of the member associations.
