Message from the High Commissioner of India
I would like to wish Leaders and Members of the FINACT and its 22 community organisations, a very joyous and prosperous Diwali and best wishes for the coming year.
Diwali is a time for prayer, celebration and resolutions for the coming year. I do hope that the Members of FINACT will have a joyous Diwali celebration and will also think of doing something for the less fortunate at this time of the year.

Deepawali Message from Ms Kate Lundy
I would like to convey my warmest greetings and best wishes to all Australians celebrating the holy festival of Deepavali or Diwali.
Deepavali or the ‘festival of lights’ is a positive and joyous celebration that represents hope, renewal, happiness, forgiveness and goodwill.
It celebrates good over evil and, just like the row of clay lamps lit on the day, it symbolises happiness, hope and prosperity to all. It is also a time for gathering with family and friends for sharing special food and joining in community celebrations.
ACT Chief Minister Greets Indian Community
In recent years, the popularity of the festival itself has been increasingly embraced by other Canberrans and today the festivities and symbolism of the event are celebrated right throughout Australia, but in many other countries around the world.
As Canberra approaches its 100th birthday in 2013, my wish is that 'Diwali' will continue to grow in significance and popularity throughout the rest of our community and that it will become a valued and permanent celebration by all in our community.

Deepawali Message from FINACT Patron
Over the last 12 months I have had the great honour of joining the Indian community of Canberra in celebrating their wise, beautiful and enduring culture.
From the joyful Diwali- Festival of Lights to the colourful Bollywood themed Multicultural Gala Dinner and Awards to the popular India in the City area of the National Multicultural Festival, I have had the distinct pleasure of sharing your communities' haunting music, energetic dancing and delicious food.

Best Wishes from the ACT Leader of Opposition
My colleagues and I send our best wishes to the Indian community on the occasion of the Indian festival of lights.
This is a significant festival for the Indian community around Canberra, and is celebrated around Australia and the world.
I’m proud that the Canberra Liberals have a very multicultural party. I am from Croatian parents, Steve Doszpot from Hungary, Brendan Smyth from Ireland, Giulia Jones and Vicki Dunne from Italy.
