message from the act chief minister
On behalf of the ACT Government, I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Federation of Indian Associations of the ACT every success for your third annual T-20 cricket tournament.
The love of cricket is a common bond between India and Australia, and our shared passion for the game is sure to be on display throughout the tournament.
Canberra is fortunate to be able to experience the vibrancy of Indian culture through local events such as the annual Festival of Lights and Multicultural Festival. These celebrations not only showcase the richness of Indian culture, but also serve to highlight our city's cultural diversity and the close ties between our two nations.

Precautions and Care on a hot day
We have been fortunate enough in the last three years avoiding extreme weather affecting our tournament. However, the fresh warning issued by the ACT government in the best interest of ACT residents, we advise all team members, officials and their supporters to take reasonable care and precautions to protect themselves.
Please read the instructions and advice carefully and pass on to your family and friends. It is equally relevant and important to people in general.

Message from Senator the Hon Kate Lundy
I have always believed that Australia’s rich multicultural character is both a great strength and a valuable asset. Our diversity makes us the vibrant and dynamic nation we are and is a lasting source of social and economic stability.
In my former position as Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Minister of Sport I had the honour of championing sport as a powerful force for social inclusion.
Sport promotes participation, encourages inclusion and creates a sense of belonging. I believe that these are the same sentiments on which a strong and lasting multicultural society can be built.
Cricket holds an important place in both Australian and Indian culture. In both countries the national teams are a source of unity and pride. Indian-Australians are some of the world’s most fortunate cricket fans, being in a position to support two national teams and follow two local competitions.

Message from Senator the Hon Zed Seselja
I’m absolutely delighted to once again give my congratulations and best wishes to the Federation of Indian Associations of the ACT’s executive and members taking part in this year’s T-20 Tournament.
Since the establishment of FINACT, they have played an important role in bringing Indian and Australian communities together through social activities such as the T-20 Tournament. Bringing likeminded people together is often the best way of creating a strong community, and FINACT is a great example of this simple recipe.
Cricket plays an integral part in everyday life in both India and Australia. It is India’s number one sport and helps forge the great bond between our countries. Not only is the tournament a way to combine communities but also a way to promote healthy living and exercise.
Once again I congratulate the FINACT executive and participating members on bringing this fantastic initiative to the city of Canberra and good luck to all those involved.

Message of support from Jeremy Hanson
With India and Australia both currently in the top 3 spots in world cricket in Tests and ODI, the interest in cricket, especially Australians of Indian background, has reached new heights. This together with the great accomplishment of FINACTs two inaugural T20 tournaments ensures that the 2014 round of games are sure to be a resounding success.
It is said that sport, and cricket in particular, is a great leveller and has the capacity to bring together peoples of all backgrounds and traditions. FINACT is to be congratulated in its achievements in its work within the Canberra to provide a bridge between the traditions of Australia and India.
The FINACT Cricket tournament is important on many levels not the least the contest between bat and ball.
I congratulate the organisers, the players and sponsors of the 2014 FINACT T-20 Cricket Tournament and send my best wish all involved.

Message from Giulia Jones
