I convey my best wishes to Canberra’s Indian community in marking the 67th Independence Day of the Republic of India.
Canberra is a wonderfully diverse city and the contribution of Australians of Indian origin now adds to the richness of our community.
The ACT Government and community continue to work to provide opportunities to showcase, celebrate and increase community understanding about Canberra’s cultural diversity- and the celebration of India’s Independence is another reminder of our local diversity.
I would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the fine work of FINACT in its role to present a unified front for all its member associations to promote the advancement of people of Indian origin both here in the Australian Capital Territory and in the local region and I wish FINACT ongoing success in this regard.
I extend to you all my very best wishes during your Independence Day celebrations.
