It is with great pleasure that I extend my best wishes to the Indian Community on the occasion of the 67th Indian Independence Day. In doing so, I particularly acknowledge the contribution of the Federation of Indian Associations of the ACT and all those involved in this important celebration.
The Indian community here in the ACT is renowned for its vibrancy which has helped to shape many aspects of Canberran life. It forms a vital part of our multicultural society and makes a major contribution to Canberra’s cultural, social and economic life.
Independence Day celebrations are rich in historical and cultural significance, reminding us that tradition, his tory and culture play an important role in enriching our society as a whole.Independence Day is also an opportunity for us to come together and reflect on the value of freedom which is upheld in both Australia and India.
I extend my best wishes to those taking part in Indian Independence Day celebrations.
