I am very proud and extremely delighted to inform you that the FINACT 11 won the Tendulkar-Akram Shield 2013.
As you are aware the FINACT 11 were chosen based on their performance at the FINACT T 20 Cricket Rolling Trophy matches. These were the top 4 batsmen, top 4 bowlers and top 4 all rounders.
The victory was doubly sweet as Pakistan had won the shield last year. The Indian team had no difficulty in beating them.
It was great to see a competitive but friendly match between the two teams. Weather was very kind to us and it was a glorious day to play cricket outdoors.
Our players did us proud. FINACT congratulates each and every one of them including Captain Chakra and Man of the match Amit.
We had quite a good crowd and our portable PA system came in very useful in announcing the scores, doing a spot of interviews and commentary.
Despite his very busy schedule, Mr Zed Seselja, Liberal Senate Candidate, stayed for nearly an hour talking to spectators and players. While the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan was present during the first 20 overs when India batted, Mr Tarun Kumar, First Secretary High Commission of India was present for the entire match and gave away the shield to the Indian team on behalf of His Excellency Mr Nanda. And we were happy to welcome Matthew William of Cricket ACT who gave away the Man of the match award.
We thank all the Pakistan players and their organiser Jaffery for their help in organising the match this year. The two team captains were also interviewed by SBS radio.
