It is a great pleasure and pride for us to announce the results of Inaugural FINACT T-20 Cricket Tournament for Colliers Trophy. The tournament has concluded successfully with the Final match played at the prestigious Manuka Oval yesterday. It has been a fantastic four weeks of cricket where we have seen some exciting matches and have witnessed some really talented players. We witnessed yet another thriller yesterday. Congratulations to Assam Rhinos for winning the Inaugural FINACT T-20 Cricket championship and Congratulations to Andhra Pradesh team too for the fantastic performance in becoming the Runners up of the tournament.
On behalf of FINACT, I would like to say a big thank you to all the participant teams, volunteers, various Indian Associations and to the wider Indian community in Canberra for all their support and help in making this tournament a mega success. Apart from the competitive aspect of the tournament, one of the main objectives of this tournament was to bring the community together and build the sprit of Unity and friendship amongst the community.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Mr. Chris Cairns and Colliers management for sponsoring the tournament and a very special thank you to ACT Cricket and to its CEO Mr. Mark Vergano for all the support in providing the Manuka Oval for the finals. I would also like to thank Hon. ACT Multicultural Affairs Minister Ms. Joy Burch, the Shadow Sports Minister Mr. Steve Doszpot MLA and Mr Vinod Sharma, the acting High Commissioner of India for all their support throughout the tournament. The FINACT is determined to continue organising this prestigious tournament every year for the Indian community and preparations have already started for the 2013 championship.
