I would like to convey my best wishes to all those involved in the 2013 FINACT Rolling Trophy Twenty 20 Cricket Tournament. After the momentous success of the inaugural tournament in 2012, it is wonderful to see the event in its second year.
In both India and Australia, cricket has become far more than a mere pastime. Indeed, cricket represents an integral part of Indian and Australian culture.
While cricket for the most part divides our two nations as rivals on opposite ends of the pitch, it has also served to unite us. The World Cricket Tsunami Appeal ‘Asia vs the Rest of the World’ Twenty 20 Match in the aftermath of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami was testament to the goodwill and decency fostered by the game.
The intensity of interest in the tournament from the ACT’s Indian Community is remarkable, and FINACT’s efforts to create such a popular and wholesome community event are to be commended.
I wish all players the best of luck.
