FINACT Activities & Approach

Dear FINACT Members

Thanks to FINACT members who attended the General Council Meeting on 31 October 2019 which was hosted by Senator Zed Seselja at the Parliament House.

In his address to the General Council, Senator mentioned that charities that meet eligibility criteria should consider applying for funding. Senator also expressed interest in learning about the Indian electronic voting system.

For next GCM, FINACT has sent an email request on 4 October 2019 to FINACT Patron Minister the Hon Chris Steel to host the meeting at the Legislative Assembly. It was also mentioned at the meeting with Minister Steel on 1 October 2019. If it is possible I am sure Minister’s office will try to organise it.

For the FINACT T20 cricket tournament, FINACT had invited Minister Yevette Berry, Minister Chris Steel, Opposition Leader Alistair Coe and Shadow Minister James Milligan. Minister Suzanne Orr,  Opposition Leader Alistair Coe and Shadow Minister James Milligan attended.

As you already know, FINACT is organising a Dinner on 17 November 2019 to felicitate Dr Krishna Nadimpalli, Dr Dharmendra Sharma and Mr Deepak Raj Gupta and to farewell Dr Deep Saini who is leaving Australia to join a new position in January 2020.  FINACT has invited Senator Zed Seselja, Prof Andrew Leigh MP, Chief minister Andrew Barr, Opposition Leader Alistair Coe, Minister Chris Steel, Minister Shane Rattenbury, and Shadow Minister Giulia Jones.

FINACT is an apolitical and responsible organisation. FINACT Executives try to ensure equal representation from political parties. However, decision to attend or not rests with the invitees. FINACT has no control on who accepts and attends and it should not be seen as a reflection of FINACT’s decision.

FINACT has conveyed that members would greatly appreciate chance to interact with the Minister/Shadow Minister/MLA that we invite, but we also understand that it is not always possible for them to attend all events in which case they can choose to send a representative, and FINACT welcomes that.

FINACT EC is reaching out to members and sharing information. We are open to constructive suggestions from you on how we can ensure your meaningful involvement and two-way communication keeping in mind that we are all volunteers and we need to progress FINACT specific issues like India Centre, multicultural center and organise our own events.

If any member organisation or authorised delegate(s) are missing from the address box that you become aware of, then please let me know.

Let us continue to collaborate::cooperate::coordinate for the better good of all our members, FINACT, Indian diaspora and broader Australian society.

With regards,

Dr Sunita S Dhindsa
President, FINACT
